UYONET has made tremendous strides in the area of staffing. It currently has a fully fledged secretariat headed by the Executive Director appointed by the Board of Directors and a host of other staffs. The organization equally takes on Interns as and when space is available. All staffs are retained in accordance with the Human resource Manual with clear job descriptions.
Mrs Ruth Asiimwe Kabugo
Ruth is finalizing her Masters in Business Administration, following a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and Computing. She is a self- driven person with a positive “can do” attitude that has always enabled her to succeed in her work; registering excellent performance in all the places.
She has worked in the development sector for over 11 years, all in management positions and 8 of them, in the Youth sector. Ruth has had roles not limited to Head of Restless Development Zambia, M&E Advisor for Voluntary Services Overseas Zambia and M&E Coordinator for Kawempe Home Care, Uganda. She has been a fundraising, People and Performance and M&E Consultant for several organisations including Oxfam Novib Uganda, Children of Uganda, Ren Publishers, Komo Learning Centres and other youth organisations in Tanzania. She also worked with MTN Uganda, Mountains of the Moon University, DHL Uganda and is the founder for Youth of Destiny.
Ruth serves on the board for three youth organisations in Uganda, mentors 15 young people in their careers and offers pro-bono coaching to 5 youth organisations in East and Southern Africa. Ruth is good at performance management, has been responsible for internal performance for all organisations worked for and directly managed over 47 staff members including managers. She has expertise in capacity building, is a trained, trainer of trainers and has trained civil society organisations, government departments and other stakeholders. She is passionate about fundraising and partnerships, She has contributed to writing proposals and managed different donors not limited to USAID, Global Environment Fund, European Union, UNICEF, UNFPA, World Bank, British Council, Swedish International Development Agency, DFID, aBi Trust and Comic Relief.
Ruth loves writing and is a member of Uganda Female Writers association and author of the novel; "My Heart, Your Shelter," The entire staff and Board of Uganda Youth Network are excited to have her to lead the team.
It’s upon the expertise background on youth affairs and programming that she joined UYONET as the Executive Director on 1st April 2017.
