UYONET TRAINS YOUTH LEADERS IN ADVOCACY

Youth in their different capacities were trained in policy development process, planning and advocacy and emphasis was on budget engagement by young people as well as understanding the Local government budget cycle so as to better advocate from an informed point of view. These included newly elected councilors in Koboko, Rukungiri and Hoima district, Youth in UYONET member organizations in Rukungiri and Gulu districts while youth through their District Advocacy networks of Kamuli, Alebtong, Lira, Tororo and Kampala were trained in strategic roles of advocacy networks in impactful budget implementation monitoring. The trained youth leaders in Makindye and Nakawa divisions of Kampala developed and consolidated their divisional advocacy plans against prostitution and drug abuse in Makindye while in Nakawa the advocacy plan was on gambling.
